Tech Startup & Entrepreneurship Superweek in Bucharest

by admin on octombrie 29th, 2011

We’ll have the Global Entrepreneurship Week, this November 14-20th! But that’s gonna be just a little bit more than an usual week. What I want to talk about is a real superweek, I’ll happily (but unfortunately only tangentially) attend.

This November 7-13, in Bucharest, we’ll have a couple of outstanding events bringing in together the most successful current entrepreneurs in tech and, I am more than sure, the next wave of successful Romanian entrepreneurs.

Firstly, November 9-10, How To Web will offer participants a program featuring presentations on tech and biz topics delivered by a set of remarkable entrepreneurs, many from the Central and Eastern Europe, representing startups that offered to the world great products or services like Prezi, Cloudsound. A different line of talks, not less interesting, will be offered by people active in and close to the investments area, representing funds and programs that are wellknown here in Romania, like Seedcamp or Springboard. Additionally, the organizers, convened in Bucharest for this event people that will talk on mobile, social, entrepreneurship, innovation, B2B, business, web trends, advertising, and practical, “how to?” topics. Separately, a set of hands-on workshops will be opened to participants parallel to the main conference track. Noteworthy, each of the two conference days will be followed by, I would say, conference night parties, apparently designed to cover close to a full working day duration.

In order to facilitate the participation of all those interested, the organizers have arranged for group transportation by bus from various places colecting people from Belgrade, Sofia, Timisoara, Cluj, Iasi, Craiova, Brasov, Sibiu, etc. Until November 2nd, Timisoara participant can also benefit of an additional incentive: a 24% discount to the participation fee. To claim it, send me an e-mail at All the needed details referring to How To Web 2011 are available on event’s webpage.

Secondly, at least by the calendar, is the second edition of the Startup Weekend Romania, November 11-13, 2011. This year it comes with a spooky code name: Vampire and accordingly designed visuals!

Startup Weekend is a 54 hours event (Friday evening to Sunday evening) where developers, designers, marketers, product managers and startup enthusiasts share and compare ideas, form teams, build services and products, and eventually launch startups!

One should attend a Startup Weekend as it is a condensed opportunity to learn something that’s practical and valuable, to network with real doers, to find co-founders for entrepreneurial ventures, to launch a business, to meet outstanding leaders and mentors and to join a world wide community.

The event will include presentations, mentorship and judging by renowned entrepreneurs and experts in different filds. I’m glad I’ve received organizers invitation to to join (thought in my mentoring capacity ;) ) people like Mikko Järvenpää (HackFwd), Felix Petersen (Amen), Vlad Stan (Seed Money), Lucian Gramescu (Junior Achievement Romania), Dan Lupu (Intel Capital) and others.

For tickets and inquiries, visit Startup Weekend Romania site.

Both events mentioned in this post will take place at Crystal Palace Ballroom in Bucharest, in a spectacular partnership between How To Web and Startup Weekend Romania.

Hope to meet a lot of Timisoara geeks and entrepreneurs during this spectacular superweek in Bucharest.
